Wait, where is Estonia and why do I want to go there? Estonia was most recently under the arm of Russia until it gained its independence in 1918 during the Russian revolution. Tallinn, its capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is the best-preserved medieval capital in Northern Europe. Estonia rests on the Baltic sea and boasts 2000 islands. The population of Estonia is just 1.3 million and half of the country is covered by forests. This is a country where you can come to relax and unplug, explore some beautiful sites including a gorgeous world-class city, enjoy some spa time and relish the beautiful nature that surrounds you.
Marika, a former dancer is our local guide on this extraordinary Estonian Adventure. A New York resident who hails from Estonia, she’s both a yoga teacher and a cookbook author. At her farmhouse she’ll gently guide us towards a deeper understanding of how food affects our entire being. In her book, which everyone will receive a signed copy of, she teaches how to strengthen immunity, restore and maintain a healthy digestive tract, prevent inflammation and lose weight—without counting calories, dieting or deprivation.
Marika also teaches and practices Kundalini Yoga based on Yogi Bhajan’s teachings. A dynamic form of yoga, combining postures, stretching, movement, meditation, breathing, and chanting. The practice of Kundalini yoga brings with it a sense of well-being that is immediately tangible. After a yoga session one feels grounded, energized and uplifted. It helps to relax the body and calm the mind, increasing our capacity for concentration, creativity and intuition. Ultimately, it brings us to a deeper understanding of our potentials and ourselves and allows for a harmonious merging of body, mind and soul with the universal energy surrounding us.
But this special Northern European Experience is not just a yoga or wellness retreat; it’s also an invitation to explore some of the most beautiful and exciting areas of this small Baltic country.
