A day spent at the gardens and home of Monet at Giverny is a beautiful one, regardless of with whom you spend it, whether a fellow art lover or travel companion. And of course a sunny day spent among flowers in the green countryside of France lends itself easily to romance. But I decided to forge the way there on my own, and the peace and beauty of my day, along with the sense of Monet’s presence, were themselves a powerful accompaniment.

(8) Pick out a Christmas tree In France most people prefer fake trees or those miniature ones. Personally, I like the real deal. You can usually find real trees at flower shops like Monceau Fleurs and sometimes at the larger markets.
Here are a few current and upcoming exhibitions in Paris that I’m getting excited about, ranging from painting to photography to music. I hope that you’ll all feel inspired, too! The first two are closing soon, so get hopping.
My BFF in Paris lives on the rue de Bourgogne, in the 7th Arrondissement, and she is in LOVE with her street. After a brief stroll, following her daily routine, it is easy to see why. The street begins at the Assemblée Nationale and shoots straight down three blocks, to the Hôtel Biron, home of the Musée Rodin and its enchanting gardens.
