Shopping in Paris: Luxurious Accessories at a New Boutique

Richmond, an accessories shop in Paris

Sometimes while shopping in Paris, you walk into a store and think, “Mais oui—I want one of everything!” Richmond, a new boutique in the 17th Arrondissement, is one such shop. Mari, the owner, has filled the store with trinkets and accessories of the utmost luxury and quality, while also boasting reasonable prices.

Elegant Marc Rozier scarves from Lyon, delightfully girly Guy de Jean umbrellas, fantastically scented candles from la Manufacture des Châteaux, chic ornaments to dress up those same-old ballet slippers from Pimp My Shoes and plush wraps from German manufacturer Uppercase—these are just some of the amazing finds that make Richmond the ideal place to shop for yourself or pick up gifts for friends and family.

Mari Touche, a native Canadian, has lived in Paris for 27 years. As a result, she is able to offer a range of products that suit both Parisian and expatriate tastes, as well as feature entirely European-based artists and designers. It is quickly apparent that she simply selects things that she herself loves, which gives the store a warm, unified feeling—like stepping into a girlfriend’s closet as she oohs and aahs over her latest acquisition.

Richmond—named after Mari’s nom de jeune fille (which is a much prettier phrase than maiden name)—is tucked away on the quiet rue Saint-Ferdinand between Etoile, Porte Maillot and the avenue des Ternes. Recognizing that the avenue des Ternes in particular is full of shops offering top-name clothes, shoes and handbags, Mari specifically chose to focus on accessories.

Great gifts can be found at Richmond in Paris

Delicate scented sachets adorned with tiny trinkets from Maryse à Paris could be a wonderful gift; Spanish-made wide leather belts inlaid with suede have been a top seller since the store opened in September. The perfect beret in an array of rich colors—or standard Parisian black—for under 30 euros is a keepsake that won’t ever go out of style.

If you’re looking for shopping in Paris that is utterly Parisian and entirely charming, then make your way to Richmond.
