Here is the itinerary for our April 2019 Ladies Only Provence Tour:
Tuesday April 14th
Arrive, refresh, unpack and relax at our charming hotel in St. Remy owned by Vicki Archer.
Drinks at 7pm and then dine at a magnificent local restaurant outside on their terrace in L’Isle Sur la
Optional jet-lag massage in the afternoon.
Wednesday April 15th
Today we’ll venture to St. Remy and visit Van Gogh’s monastery where he lived and painted and we’ll also see some Roman Ruins. Then we’ll head to Menerbes, the town made famous by the book a Year in Provence for lunch. After lunch we’ll enjoy a rosé wine tasting at one of the local Domaine’s.
After some rest back at our hotel leaving time to explore our town more on your own.
Dinner in nearby Les Baux and explore the most famous town in Provence once the hordes of tourists have left.
Thursday April 16th
Truffle hunt with the experts & their dogs. After tasting our truffles with champagne by the pool at the proprietors home, we’ll head to the beautiful village of Lourmarin and enjoy a light lunch and after we’ll have time to walk around, sight see and shop. This is one of Peter Mayle’s favorite villages in Provence. (author of a Year in Provence as well as many books about Provence)
In the late afternoon we’ll get to experience a lesson in Petanque (the Provençal version of Boule, which is a game played outside with metal balls) with a light apero before heading back to our villa.
Dinner created by one of the top chefs in the area at our gorgeous villa, poolside if weather allows.
Friday April 17th
Early morning at the market in Uzes with chef Eric and then head to his cooking school for an enjoyable cooking class using our Truffles. After our labors we’ll dine with wine on our fixins’.
After class, we’ll stroll around the village Uzès and see the Medieval garden.
Dinner on your own @ hotel or in town.
Saturday April 18th
Wake up a bit later today and head to the impossibly beautiful town of Gordes. Tour this charming village, named one of the most beautiful in France and visit the old village of Bories, where you can see the old way sheep hearders used to live in the region.
1pm lunch at in Gordes.
lIn the afternoon Visit Rousillon the famous red village and walk the Ocre trail and then explore this lovely town leaving some time for shopping.
We arrive back to hotel early enough so you can lounge, exercise, read or just relax. Simple meal in town at a French tapas bar.
Sunday April 19th
The Sunday market for both fresh food and antiques at Isle sur la Sorgue is well known throughout the region. We’ll explore this darling town surrounded by a river and watermills.
Lunch in town at Jouvaud, a darling tea salon, patisserie and charming shop.
Optional afternoon travel to Fontaine de Vaucluse, the source of the Sorgue river to take a short nature hike and to see an old paper mill. Magnificent farewell dinner at a secret location!
Monday April 20th
Breakfast, photo sharing & depart.
