Three-Country Tour to Alsace (FR),The Black Forest (DE) & Basil, Switzerland
Colmar France, Freiburg & Black Forest spa and resort in Germany, and Basel, CH with stops in charming country villages along the way.

This extraordinary tour focuses on the tiny Alsatian Plus Beaux villages of France situated around Colmar in all of their spring splendor. We’ll visit wineries to sample their award-winning Rieslings, Pinot Gris, Sylvaner and Crémant sparkling wines which this region does so well. If you think of Riesling as sweet wine you’ve not been to Alsace. These are some of the very best white wines in the world. You’ll sample the tarte flambée; the Alsatian pizza which is much loved throughout France, plus we’ll wander up into the Vosges Mountains and visit a cheesemaker. Colmar www.hotelquatorze.com
Next, we’ll head to the well-preserved small city of Freiburg, Germany. We’ll discover the chic shops with a native and head to Freiberg’s exquisite cathedral from 1200 and their newly redone Augustiner Museum. At the market we’ll sample the local wurst, we’ll hit the Biergarten and we’ll dine on the best pork or veal schnitzel you’ve ever tasted. Options abound for vegetarians. Freiburg www.colombi.de
For our 5th night we’ll head up the mountain via gondola into the Black Forest where we’ll check into a spa and resort to decompress, drink tea, take walks and get pampered. This place is absolutely idyllic. Black Forest www.halde.com
After we’ll head towards Basel and taste some delicious cherry schnapps and sample the best of the German cakes and we’ll make a stop at an asparagus farm to see how white asparagus is grown. The region is famous for it! As we head to Basel outside of the city we’ll stop at the Vitra design museum with a campus of architect designed buildings by the lines of Gehry, Tando Ando etc.

We’ll check into our exquisite Swiss hotel on the Rhine with a view of Old Town Basel. In Basel we’ll focus on art and design as we head to the Kunstmusem and the Beyeler Foundation designed by Renzo Piano, one of the most important museums in Europe. We’ll visit their ancient cathedral and explore the oldest part of town where many buildings date back to the 1300’s. In the evening we’ll dine at a grand yet charming Swiss classic. Time for exploring and shopping on one’s own will be built into the schedule at each destination. Basel www.krafftbasel.ch
May 21st Checkout and return via Basel to Paris and back home.
You’ll fly into Paris and then train down to Strasbourg where we’d pick you up. Then you’d fly back from Basel to Paris (a short and not very expensive flight).
This trip will cost around $4992 however there can be some savings if you pick the smaller rooms at several of the hotels.
That price is for a single (not sharing) and includes all dinners, tours, museum entry, transport in country by van as well as wine or beer with meals. It even includes a spa treatment at the Black Forest hotel and spa.
You are only responsible for your flights & trains to and from the start and finish of the trip.
