September: La Rentrée

It's that time of year again. La rentrée happens in early September, when tous les enfants go back to school and the mommies in Paris (and everyone else) go back to work after the long and luscious August holidays. For some it's a sad close to summer, and for others a great excuse to reorganize their closets, buy new fall clothes, read one or more of the new books offered in the fall, and of course stock up on new school supplies.

Literally translated as the "comeback" or "return," la rentrée is a time for rejuvenation and newfound motivation in whatever it is that you are committed to. Read more about la rentrée here.

So it's in that spirit that we bring you this month's newsletter.

Make sure that you are up to date on all that is going on in Paris right now. September has a lot in store for you: the new Monet show, a fabulous new cookbook that brings all of France home to you and a cool Paris nightclub app are just a few of our many finds.

Wine of the Month

J. J. Vincent Pouilly-Fuissé Marie-Antoinette, 2008

The cooler temperatures of September hit me like a wine wake-up call. When you find yourself reaching for sweaters, it is a cue to start reaching for different wines as well.

Special Paris Tour by Paris Herself!

Recently we met up with a lovely lady who offers tours to Paris that she will design around you and your needs. And her name is Paris—no, we aren't kidding! A six-year resident of the City of Light who now divides her time between there and Key West, Paris offers extremely reasonable rates (beginning at $1,500) on tours to Paris, and she is a docent at Notre Dame, so she can take you behind the scenes. That's very special indeed.

She has designed some tours especially for us (which you can customize of course) that revolve around a few of the incredible women who've made Paris their home throughout history. You’ll enjoy tours with themes such as the queen, the empresses’ day, ladies of the court and famous lovers in Paris—all rounded off with a good dose of the flea markets and shopping (from vintage to haute couture), as well as tea, macaroons and chocolates. Paris will treat you and your party to lunch, and by the end of just a few days, you'll consider her a friend. If you'd like to have Paris help make Paris a reality, simply send us an email at info@girlsguidetoparis.com, and we'll put you in touch with her.

Shhh . . .

We are unveiling our new and improved site next month, which will have an easier-to-use Book It page solving all of your hotel and touring needs, and we hope you'll find it simpler to navigate and even more fun to visit! Also, we'll be announcing a new membership opportunity that will give you huge savings on hotels, tours and GG2P merchandise. Don't worry—we'll send you an announcement when it goes live.

Enjoy these last few days of summer. Cheers to the beginning of fall, la rentrée and a restored sense of vigor in all that we do.

Bisous from Paris!
