Fashion is one of the first things I think of when I’m about to wander around the streets of Paris. "What will I wear today?" is a big question when there are so many artists of dressing and well-appointed Parisians walking around. But right now when I get outside the last thing I want to do is parade up and down the boulevards, and it's not because I'm ashamed of my clothes; it’s because I’m really, really cold....

Le Saint-Valentin. It even sounds sexy in French, and this year I am dreaming up a particularly sexy Valentine’s Day in Paris. My dream begins with waking up in a luxurious hotel, like le Pavillon de la Reine, located under the arcades of the quintessentially romantic Place des Vosges. After a decadent breakfast in bed, wearing Monsieur’s dress shirt from the night before, I’d put on some tight jeans, with a large cashmere boyfriend sweater, and some decent boots that have heels that I can actually walk in. Then, we’d head out the door to celebrate Valentine’s Day with romantic must-do’s in Paris....

Every day in Paris is romantic even when the metro is crowded or a brief rain shower drives you into a small café, or into the entrance of an art gallery or shop. Everything and everyone seems romantic, from the man at the vegetable stand to the butcher who prepares your weekly entrecôte. The tradition of romantic love began in France, in the Middle Ages when romantic poetry was born and inspired the idea of giving gifts to express one’s devotion. In honor of Valentine’s Day, here’s our list of the 10 best gifts from...

Spring may not be in the Paris air quite yet, but designers' spring collections are certainly filling nearly every shop window along the Champs-Elysées and beyond, so getting in the spirit of spring is unavoidable. This brightly chic ensemble from Lela Rose is absolute perfection for a leisurely afternoon of Paris shopping, lunch with friends or any sophisticated daytime...

In the smart environs of the 1st Arrondissement, nestled alongside the most elegant of Parisian boutiques, is the chic rue Saint-Honoré flagship of Jean-Paul Hévin. It is a shrine to fine French chocolate, and there is a constant stream of the soigné and the in-the-know popping in for their cacao fix. Jean-Paul Hévin has just been listed as one of the top eight chocolatiers in the world by chocolate expert Georg Bernardini in his recently published magnum opus Der Schokoladentester....

With its roots firmly planted in French culture (the headwear gets its name from Victorien Sardou's character Fédora) you'd expect to see the fedora everywhere in Paris, and indeed I spotted a great many—but not on men. In our devotion to Paris shopping, we've borrowed every other item of clothing from "men's" wardrobes, so it was inevitable that this hat would have its...

In the Marais, our first stop on this part of the perfume walking tour of Paris is l’Artisan Parfumeur (34, rue des Francs Bourgeois, in the 3rd Arrondissement). It has a boho apothecary vibe and fragrances like Timbuktu for the guys or Chasse aux Papillons for the gals. For your home, it carries candles in elegant containers with antique gold lids. For traditionalists, nearby is Fragonard (51, rue des Francs Bourgeois, in the 4th), a perfume house with over 100 years of...

Ah, le ski. We have been inspired by the recent snowy weather in Paris. When the temperatures drop and the snow falls, our absolute favorite activity (other than Paris shopping, of course!) is to hit the slopes for a day—or weekend!—of skiing. From the Gare de Lyon, you can take the TGV straight to the Alps for some of the best skiing Europe has to offer. After a long day in the snow, the question is, “What to wear après le...
