Paris to the Past, by Ina Caro

Best New Books about Paris banner1 11

This is a clever book by historian Ina Caro that describes trips you can take via metro (as well as the RER and TGV) to the past. Like many well-written travel books about Paris, you can use this one as armchair travel through the city and environs or as an actual guidebook. Either way, Paris to the Past takes you deeper into the lives of Joan of Arc, Marie Antoinette and Louis XIV, which are presented in a totally fresh manner.

This is an absolutely darling book that highlights French pastry and its similarities to the architecture of Paris. Only a female graphic designer could have thought of this idea. We have a soft spot in our hearts for Susan Hochbaum, the book’s author, because almost two years ago we first posted her movie with the same theme. From there, the book deals began coming in. Bravo! We are so proud of her!

If Girls’ Guide is the destination for women travelers to Paris, the My Little Paris website is the destination for ladies who live here. We adore what it does, and its new book, illustrated by the amazing Miss Kanako, is such incredible, fanciful fun. The book outlines place after place that’s unusual and off the beaten track—too many things to do, but worth making the effort.
